Constant Contact Connector for ShareBuilder Assistant Skills

The ShareBuilder Assistant is expanding its marketing workflow ecosystem with a Connector that brings Constant Contact directly into the Assistant Skills platform. With the Constant Contact Connector, teams can manage opted-in contacts, organize audiences, and prepare email campaigns as part of larger customer and revenue workflows.

About Constant Contact

Constant Contact is a digital marketing platform that helps organizations manage contacts, build targeted audiences, and create email campaigns. It is used by businesses and organizations that need a practical way to maintain customer relationships and communicate with the people who have chosen to hear from them.

For media organizations, email marketing can support advertiser communication, event promotion, audience development, newsletters, community outreach, and other relationship-building work. The challenge is keeping contact information, consent, lists, and campaign preparation connected to the systems where those relationships begin.

This is the Constant Contact Connector

The Constant Contact Connector brings guided contact, list, tag, and campaign operations directly into Assistant Skills.

Teams can create and maintain contacts, organize list membership, find account tags, create custom-code email campaign drafts, and search or remove campaigns. A general authorized API-call action is also available for advanced Constant Contact operations that are not represented by a guided component.

The current connector is action-based. It does not include Constant Contact event or webhook triggers, so workflows should begin from another Assistant Skills trigger, a schedule, or an approved process step.

Create and maintain opted-in contacts

Reliable marketing workflows begin with accurate contact data and clear permission to communicate.

The connector can create a Constant Contact contact using an email address, permission-to-send status, name, company, job title, list memberships, and tags. It can search and filter contacts, retrieve one contact by ID, update an existing contact, and delete a contact when an authorized workflow requires it.

Contact searches can be narrowed using information such as email address, contact status, list or tag membership, creation and update dates, opt-out dates, and SMS status.

A Skill could use those actions to:

  • add an opted-in form submission to Constant Contact
  • find an existing contact before creating a duplicate
  • update company or job information from an approved CRM change
  • add a contact to the correct lists and tags
  • identify contacts updated during a selected period
  • route a deletion request through review before completing it

The connector requires permission-to-send information when creating a contact. Teams should only add or update marketing permissions when the contact has provided the appropriate consent.

Organize audiences with lists and tags

Lists and tags help teams group contacts for more relevant communication.

The Constant Contact Connector can create a contact list, find lists using name or status filters, update a list’s name or favorite status, and delete a list. It can also retrieve the tags available in the connected Constant Contact account.

When creating or updating a contact, a Skill can assign list memberships and tags. This makes it possible to use context from CRM, forms, events, or other connected systems to place an opted-in contact into the appropriate audience structure.

That can support workflows such as:

  • place a new advertiser inquiry into the right follow-up list
  • organize event registrants by market or event
  • tag contacts using approved interests or relationship context
  • keep selected list membership aligned with another system
  • prepare an audience structure before campaign creation

This gives marketing teams a more consistent way to turn incoming customer context into organized, usable contact data.

Create custom-code email campaign drafts

The connector can create a new Constant Contact custom-code email campaign in draft status.

The guided action supports the campaign name, subject, sender name and address, reply-to address, HTML content, preheader, and the physical address information required for the email footer.

A Skill could use those fields to prepare a campaign draft after content has been reviewed, create a repeatable newsletter starting point, or turn approved information from another system into structured campaign content.

The guided action creates the draft campaign. It does not select recipients, schedule the campaign, send it, or perform a test send. Those later campaign steps should remain in Constant Contact or use a separately validated advanced API workflow.

Find and manage existing campaigns

The connector can search and list email campaigns, including campaigns within a selected date range. It can also delete an email campaign by ID.

That can help teams find the campaign created by an earlier workflow, prepare internal campaign inventories, or remove an obsolete draft after an approval step.

Because deletion is destructive, campaign removal should be limited to authorized workflows and should include human review when there is any risk of deleting active or reusable work.

Use an authorized Constant Contact API call for advanced needs

For technically managed workflows, the connector includes an action that can make an authorized request to the Constant Contact API using a selected endpoint, HTTP method, headers, parameters, and request body.

This provides flexibility when a required Constant Contact operation is not available as a guided action. Because it exposes a broader API surface, it should be configured by qualified administrators and tested carefully before use with live contact or campaign data.

Connect marketing work with CRM, forms, and approvals

Constant Contact becomes more useful when audience and campaign work is connected to the systems where customer relationships begin.

Assistant Skills can combine Constant Contact actions with ShareBuilder CRM, website forms, event registration, email, Microsoft Teams, approvals, and other connectors. A workflow could begin with an opted-in form submission, check CRM for customer context, find or create the Constant Contact record, assign the appropriate lists and tags, and notify the marketing team.

Another Skill could assemble approved content into a campaign draft, pause for editorial review, and then hand the draft to the marketing team for recipient selection and sending.

This helps reduce manual data entry while keeping consent, audience organization, and campaign preparation visible.

Assistant Skills

Skills are the workflows you train the ShareBuilder Assistant to run for your team. Create a Skill and the Assistant executes playbooks, coordinates processes, updates systems, and communicates across platforms automatically.

Availability

The Constant Contact Connector supports authorized Assistant Skills actions for contacts, contact lists, tags, draft email campaigns, and advanced Constant Contact API requests. The connection uses Constant Contact authorization and respects the scopes and account privileges granted by the connected user.

The current guided connector does not include Constant Contact event triggers, campaign recipient selection, campaign scheduling or sending, engagement reporting, segment creation, or SMS campaign management.
