X Connector for ShareBuilder Assistant Skills

The ShareBuilder Assistant is expanding its social workflow ecosystem with a Connector that brings X into the Assistant Skills platform. With the X Connector, media teams can publish approved posts from automated workflows, remove posts when needed, and connect social publishing to CRM, marketing, content, and operational processes.

About X

X is a real-time social platform used by media companies, brands, journalists, personalities, advertisers, and audiences to share news, promotions, live-event updates, commentary, and other public content.

For media organizations, X can be part of station promotion, breaking-news distribution, event coverage, advertiser campaigns, talent promotion, audience engagement, and broader social publishing workflows.

This is the X Connector

The X Connector brings selected X API operations into Assistant Skills.

The current connector is action-based. It can create a new text post, delete a known post, and make an authorized API request for more advanced workflows. It does not include guided triggers, so an X workflow begins from another event such as an approved campaign, a CRM change, a content workflow, a schedule, a form submission, or a manual approval step.

Publish approved social content automatically

Create Post publishes a new text post from the connected X account.

This creates a simple handoff between the systems where work is approved and the channel where it needs to be published. A Skill could publish after:

  • a promotion has completed its approval process
  • an event reaches a scheduled milestone
  • a sales or sponsorship workflow produces approved public copy
  • a newsroom or content workflow marks a message ready for distribution
  • an advertiser campaign reaches an approved launch step
  • an internal content-review process releases a post for publication

The guided action accepts text and returns the created post ID, post text, and edit-history IDs returned by X.

The action is intentionally conservative around automated mentions. The connector removes the @ symbol from detected usernames before publishing, which helps prevent automated mention behavior that may conflict with platform rules. Teams should not rely on the guided action for automated tagging or mention-based outreach.

Connect social publishing to business workflows

The value of the connector is not just publishing a post. Assistant Skills can connect X to the business event that should cause the post to happen.

For example, a workflow could begin when a ShareBuilder CRM opportunity reaches an approved sponsorship stage, retrieve approved campaign copy from the appropriate system, route it through a human review step, publish the final message to X, and write the resulting post ID back to the originating workflow.

Another Skill could publish a station promotion when a scheduled event begins, then notify the responsible team that the message was posted successfully.

This helps reduce the manual handoffs between sales, promotions, marketing, content, and social teams while keeping the approval decision in the right place.

Remove a post when a workflow requires it

Delete Post removes a known X post using its post ID and returns whether the deletion succeeded.

That can support controlled cleanup workflows when:

  • a promotion is canceled
  • a scheduled message was published in error
  • approved content is withdrawn
  • an advertiser or legal review requires removal
  • a temporary post has reached the end of its intended lifecycle

Deletion should be used carefully. A production Skill should require a trusted post ID, confirm that the workflow is authorized to remove the content, and use an approval step when deletion has meaningful editorial, customer, legal, or brand consequences.

Extend the connector for advanced X workflows

Make API Call can send an authorized GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, or DELETE request and return the response status, headers, and body.

This gives technically managed Skills a path to X API operations that do not yet have a dedicated guided action, subject to the permissions granted to the connected account and the endpoints available through X.

Potential advanced workflows could include retrieving post or account information, reading supported resources, or performing other X API operations after technical validation.

Because this action accepts both relative X API paths and full URLs, production implementations should restrict and validate the destination before use. Authorized access tokens should only be sent to approved X API endpoints. Advanced calls should be configured and reviewed by qualified administrators rather than treated as a general-purpose HTTP action.

Keep editorial and brand controls in place

Automating social publishing does not remove the need for human judgment.

Posts can be public immediately and may affect audience trust, advertiser relationships, legal obligations, or station brand standards. Production Skills should define who owns the source copy, who approves publication, which X account is authorized, and what should happen when a workflow fails.

Teams should also account for duplicate prevention, scheduling logic, API limits, expired authorization, deleted source records, and other conditions that could cause an unintended or repeated post.

For higher-risk content, the strongest workflow is usually not fully autonomous publishing. Assistant Skills can prepare the post, gather the required context, route it for approval, and publish only after the responsible person confirms it is ready.

Assistant Skills

Skills are the workflows you train the ShareBuilder Assistant to run for your team. Create a Skill and the Assistant executes playbooks, coordinates processes, updates systems, and communicates across platforms automatically.

Availability

The current X Connector package supports three actions: Create Post, Delete Post, and Make API Call. It does not include guided triggers.

OAuth authorization to an X account is required. The guided Create Post and Delete Post actions use write access, while the advanced API action can use the connector’s authorized read and write scopes. X account permissions, API access, rate limits, platform policies, and any applicable X developer-plan requirements still apply.

The guided connector does not currently include post-search, timeline retrieval, user lookup, media upload, image or video publishing, replies, reposts, likes, bookmarks, direct messages, follower management, analytics, engagement reporting, scheduling, or incoming X event triggers. Some API-supported operations may be reachable through Make API Call after separate technical, permission, and security validation.

Connector availability within Assistant Skills depends on ShareBuilders installation, testing, OAuth configuration, rollout, and customer enablement. Presence in the upstream connector library does not by itself confirm production readiness for a specific customer.
