WordPress Connector for ShareBuilder Assistant Skills

The ShareBuilder Assistant is expanding its publishing workflow ecosystem with a Connector that brings WordPress directly into the Assistant Skills platform. With the WordPress Connector, media teams can respond to new posts and comments, find site content and users, and create new posts as part of coordinated editorial, marketing, and revenue workflows.

About WordPress

WordPress.com is a website and publishing platform used to create blogs, news sites, business websites, portfolios, ecommerce experiences, and other digital properties. Its publishing tools support posts, pages, media, comments, users, themes, and a large ecosystem of connected services.

For media organizations, WordPress often serves as a public destination for news, promotions, station updates, event information, sponsored content, advertiser resources, and audience engagement. Publishing work may begin in CRM, editorial planning, forms, approvals, email, or internal communication, then need to move into WordPress and back out to the teams that support it.

This is the WordPress Connector

The WordPress Connector brings selected WordPress.com publishing workflows into Assistant Skills.

Teams can start Skills when a new post or comment is detected, list the sites connected to an authorized WordPress.com account, list users and posts for a selected site, create a new post, and make an authorized WordPress.com API request for advanced operations that are not represented by a guided component.

The connection uses WordPress.com OAuth. It can work with WordPress.com sites and with eligible self-hosted WordPress sites connected through Jetpack and visible to the authorized WordPress.com account. It should not be assumed to work with an unrelated self-hosted WordPress site that is not connected to WordPress.com.

Respond when a new post is detected

The New Post trigger monitors a selected WordPress site and starts a Skill when it detects a post that was not present in the previous polling cycle.

The trigger returns the WordPress post record, including information such as the post ID, URL, title, content, excerpt, author, dates, status, slug, format, featured image, discussion settings, and sharing details when those fields are available.

A Skill could use that event to:

  • notify sales or marketing when approved sponsored content is published
  • share a new station or company post with an internal Microsoft Teams channel
  • create follow-up work for social, email, or newsletter distribution
  • add the published URL to a related CRM account, opportunity, activity, or campaign record
  • send a publication summary to the teams supporting an event or advertiser
  • begin a review or measurement workflow after content goes live

This is a polling trigger rather than an immediate WordPress webhook. Timing depends on the trigger’s polling cycle and the selected site’s availability through the WordPress.com API.

Respond to new comments

The New Comment trigger monitors comments for a selected site and can be narrowed to a selected post. When it detects a new comment, it returns the comment record with available details about the comment, author, post, date, content, status, parent, link, and engagement.

That can support workflows such as:

  • notify the appropriate team about a new audience response
  • route a comment mentioning an advertiser, event, or service for review
  • create a customer-service or moderation follow-up
  • summarize new engagement for an editor or campaign owner
  • connect a high-value response with related CRM context

The guided connector detects comments but does not include actions to approve, edit, reply to, mark as spam, or delete them. Those moderation operations remain in WordPress unless they are separately implemented and validated through the authorized API-call action.

Find connected sites, users, and posts

The connector can list sites available to the authorized WordPress.com account. For a selected site, it can list site users and retrieve the site’s posts.

These actions help workflow builders identify the right publishing destination, author, and existing content before the next step runs.

A Skill could use them to:

  • select the correct market, station, brand, or publication site
  • find an authorized author before creating a post
  • review recent posts before generating similar or follow-up content
  • check for an existing post before creating a duplicate
  • build an internal content inventory or publication recap
  • supply site, user, or post context to an approval step

The users and sites returned depend on the connected WordPress.com account and the access that account has been granted.

Create posts with controlled publishing status

The Create Post action can create a post for a selected site and author. A title and content are required.

The action also supports an optional publication date, excerpt, slug, public-sharing message, post status, sticky setting, password, post format, likes setting, and sharing setting. Supported statuses include published, private, draft, pending review, and auto-draft behavior.

A Skill could use the action to:

  • turn approved event or promotional information into a WordPress draft
  • prepare an advertiser or sponsorship post after the related CRM work reaches the correct stage
  • create a market-specific post from a reviewed template
  • queue editorial content for human approval
  • publish an urgent, pre-approved update
  • coordinate WordPress content with email and internal notifications

The guided action defaults to publishing unless the workflow explicitly chooses another status. Workflows that require editorial review should set the post to draft or pending and include an approval step before publication. Publishing and public-sharing settings should be tested carefully so a Skill does not expose unfinished or confidential content.

Use an authorized WordPress API call for advanced needs

For technically managed workflows, the connector includes an action that can make an authorized request to the WordPress.com API using a selected endpoint, HTTP method, headers, query parameters, and request body.

This can provide access to supported operations outside the guided components, such as selected page, media, taxonomy, comment, user, site, or statistics endpoints. Actual availability depends on the WordPress.com API namespace, the selected site, the connection’s OAuth permissions, and the authorized user’s WordPress role.

Because this action exposes a broader API surface, it should be configured by qualified administrators and tested carefully before it changes live content, users, comments, media, or site settings.

Connect publishing with CRM, editorial review, and communication

WordPress becomes more useful when publishing is connected to the systems where the content request and business context begin.

Assistant Skills can combine WordPress with ShareBuilder CRM, forms, email, Microsoft Teams, approvals, AI-assisted content preparation, reporting, and other connectors. A workflow could begin when a CRM opportunity reaches the correct stage, assemble an advertiser-content brief, prepare a WordPress draft, request editorial approval, and notify the account owner when the post is published.

Another Skill could detect a new site post, record the published URL in CRM, distribute the link to internal teams, and create the next communication tasks.

This reduces manual handoffs while keeping publication decisions, customer context, and team coordination visible.

Assistant Skills

Skills are the workflows you train the ShareBuilder Assistant to run for your team. Create a Skill and the Assistant executes playbooks, coordinates processes, updates systems, and communicates across platforms automatically.

Availability

The WordPress Connector supports two polling triggers for new posts and new comments, plus actions to list sites, list users, list posts, create posts, and make advanced authorized WordPress.com API requests.

A WordPress.com account and OAuth authorization are required. Eligible Jetpack-connected self-hosted sites may also be available when they are visible to the authorized WordPress.com account.

The guided connector does not currently include actions to update or delete posts, create or manage pages, upload media, manage categories or tags, moderate comments, manage plugins or themes, change site settings, or retrieve analytics. It also does not include immediate webhook triggers.

The separate Fluent Forms Connector handles supported form-submission workflows and should not be treated as part of this WordPress publishing connector.
